DR. ROBERT MILLS DONATES PhD THESIS TO SPCEA

Dr. Robert Mills

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Robert Mills has kindly donated his PhD thesis to SPCEA as a resource for its members.  This document, entitled “Automotive Material Uncertainty and Business Risk at the Concept Phase Using Existing Metadata”, represents a pivotal study within the cost engineering profession.  He will also be providing white papers on various topics in the near future.

Dr. Mills is a world-renowned expert in the field of cost engineering.  Presently, he is a Visiting Professor of Margin Engineering at Birmingham City University in the United Kingdom.   In addition to his membership in SPCEA, Dr. Mills is a member of the Society of Cost Analysis and Forecasters (SCAF), a member of International Cost Estimating & Analysis Association (ICEAA), and he also has served as a Director of the Association of Cost Engineers (A Cost E).

Dr. Mills started his career within the cost engineering profession in 1984 as a Cost Estimator with Jaguar Motor Cars Ltd.    During his career at Jaguar, Ford, Tata and then Jaguar Land Rover, Dr. Mills worked within Manufacturing Finance, the Purchase Controllers Office, and Product Development Finance but always with a focus on Cost Estimating/Engineering.   Additionally, Dr. Mills drove the development of several computerized systems and methodologies that revolutionized the cost engineering profession.
